His story — recently featured in The Showtimes Magazine (January/February 2026 edition, pages 72 & 73) — showcases how determination, character, and opportunity can come together to create extraordinary results.

While Chase’s accomplishments are driven by his personal determination, Black Hawk College has played a role in supporting his continued growth. As a livestock judging scholarship recipient at BHC’s East Campus, Chase has had the opportunity to further sharpen his evaluation, communication, and leadership skills through competitive judging, hands-on instruction, and a strong agricultural program. The college’s Agriculture Department provides the environment, resources, and experiences that help motivated students like Chase refine their talents and prepare for the next stage of their careers.

Beyond the classroom, Chase continues to make his mark nationally. He was named the American Junior Chianina Association’s September Member of the Month, earned Grand Champion Bred & Owned Chi-Composite Heifer at Junior Nationals, and was recognized as the 2024 Overall Supreme Showman of the Indiana State Fair. He also serves as Vice President of Finance for the American Junior Simmental Association Board of Trustees — demonstrating leadership both in and out of the show ring. Looking ahead, Chase plans to return home to expand his family’s cattle operation while pursuing a law degree with a minor in agricultural policy.

The Black Hawk College East Foundation is honored to support students like Chase. His success is a powerful reminder of how the college provides foundational support for students, not only for careers but for leadership roles within their communities and the agriculture industry. Chase’s journey reflects the values we strive to instill in every student: dedication, integrity, and a commitment to excellence.

About the Livestock Judging Team

Students on the Black Hawk College Livestock Judging Team develop skills in evaluating and ranking livestock based on industry standards. Team members learn to assess various animals, including cattle, sheep, swine and goats, for traits such as structure, performance and overall quality. Students also refine their public speaking abilities by presenting oral reasons to defend their evaluations.
